It all started with a piece of cake. A FAKE piece of cake. It was actually a stuffed piece of fake cake.
All the “food” was suppose to go inside the blue bin.
Young boy ran off with the “fake” piece of cake. Twin sister ran after him.
They ended up inches away from me, fighting over the fake piece of stuffed cake.
The next thing I heard was screaming – like bloody murder screaming and I turned my head and saw the boy holding onto his sister’s jeans.
I thought he grabbed her.
Until I looked closer.
And saw the biggest bite mark EVER.
It’s like he thought the cake was real and that she was a cheeseburger from McDonald’s!
The bite bled. It became swollen. It was red, blue and every color in between.
I freaked out.
I can’t handle blood. AT. ALL.
I put the boy in his room, with a mouth full of Dial.
I perched his twin sister on the bathroom counter and called everyone I could think of – my mom, my mother-in-law (who has a nursing degree), my husband and my dad. I didn’t know what to do with her and this massive bite.
I finally ended up calling her pediatrician and by some stroke of luck, we were scheduled to see a doctor nearly 45 minutes later.
She was freaking out. It took all of my strength to put a Band-Aid on her bite – which was situated right above her right buttock. I could feel the sweat pouring out of me.
He was crying. She was crying. I was on the verge of crying.
They were no longer “best friends.” She didn’t want to talk to him. I didn’t want to talk to him.
By the time we got to the doctor’s office, they had calmed down a bit, plus their dad joined me (thank you God for that!). I kept thinking she was going to have to get a shot. She thought she was going to get a shot. Her brother kept telling her, “You are gonna get a shot!”
Shot, shot, shot … I needed a shot of something!!
The nurse gave him a stern talking. The doctor gave him a stern talking. He cried and cried some more.
In the end, she ended up on two antibiotics over a piece of FAKE cake and he had Dial soap.
No shots were needed, except for when dad got home!
